How to Split an MBOX File Into Individual EML Emails

An MBOX is one big file. Sometimes you need just one email out of it, to forward to someone, attach to a case, or open in a mail app without importing everything. Splitting it into .eml files makes each message independent.
How to convert MBOX to EML with ZapMorph

Finding a specific email in hundreds of files

- Or sort by name: files are numbered in the order they appear in the mailbox.
Tips
- Find the right message first in the MBOX viewer. You might only need to download one attachment from there.

Troubleshooting
"Has no messages in it." The file isn't an MBOX. Apple Mail exports are folders: use the mbox file inside.
Windows opens EMLs in a text editor. Right-click → Open with → Choose another app, pick your mail app and tick Always.
