Many audio editors, samplers, phone systems and CD burning tools require WAV. Converting decodes the MP3 to uncompressed 16-bit PCM audio so it opens everywhere.
Use WAV when an audio editor, sampler, phone system or CD burning tool refuses MP3, or when you plan to edit and re-save a track several times. WAV is uncompressed, so further edits lose nothing more.
Expect a much bigger file: roughly 10 MB a minute for CD-quality stereo, against 1–2 MB for MP3. Converting does not bring back detail that MP3 compression already removed, so keep the original if you have a higher-quality source.
Read the full guide with screenshotsWhat is MP3?
MP3 is the universal compressed audio format. It plays on every device, car stereo and music app with small file sizes.
What is WAV?
WAV is an uncompressed audio format with perfect quality and very large files, common in recording and audio editing.
Is it private?
Yes. Unlike upload-based converters, ZapMorph processes files inside your browser tab, so the file stays on your device. It is never transmitted, stored or logged — close the tab and it’s gone.
Frequently asked questions
Is the mp3 to wav converter free?
Yes, once a day. Convert one file up to 25 MB a day without an account. A free account gets one run a day on any Pro tool with files up to 50 MB; Pro and Lifetime plans are unlimited.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so your files never leave your device. We only count how many files you convert — never their names or contents.
What is the maximum file size?
Up to 25 MB per file without an account, 50 MB with a free account, and 1 GB on Pro. Very large files also depend on your device’s memory.
Can I convert multiple MP3 files at once?
Yes. Select several MP3 files at once — up to 5 on the free plan or 50 on Pro — and download all results in a single ZIP.
Does it work on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android?
Yes. It works in any modern browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari — on desktop and mobile, with nothing to install.
Does converting MP3 to WAV improve the sound quality?
No. WAV can’t restore what MP3 compression removed. You get an uncompressed copy that won’t lose any more quality when you edit and save it again.
